What are the terms and conditions for renting a car? Who can rent a car?

Car rental is a popular transportation option for many people around the world. Whether it’s a business trip, a vacation, or a spontaneous weekend getaway, renting a vehicle gives you the flexibility and freedom to travel. However, before you do it, it’s important to understand the terms and conditions of the rental and who can use this service. In this article, we’ll discuss the key aspects related to the terms and conditions of car rental.

Appropriate age and driving license experience

These are actually key criteria when renting a car. Most car rental companies require that you are 21 years old and have had a driving license for at least a year. These conditions are designed to ensure safety and minimize risk for both customers and the rental company.

Necessary documents for renting a car

Car rental companies usually require several documents from customers to rent a car from their fleet. Here are the most common documents required:

  • Valid Driver's License - It is essential to have a valid driver's license. In most cases, the license must be valid for at least one year.
  • Proof of identity - rental companies require a document confirming the identity of the customer, such as an identity card or passport. This document must be current and consistent with the data provided when booking.
  • Credit Card - Often rental companies require a credit card in the name of the person renting the car. The credit card is used as security and may be charged for the security deposit and rental fees. At MobiCars we do not require a credit card. You can pay with a debit card.
  • Confirmation of booking - some companies may require confirmation of car reservation. In our rental company the entire booking process is done electronically, therefore any confirmations are unnecessary, thanks to immediate payments.
  • Additional documents - depending on local regulations and the requirements of the rental company, additional documents may be required, such as documents confirming the place of residence, insurance, etc. In the case of foreigners, this may be, for example, a permanent residence card to rent a car without a deposit. In the case of renting a car for a company, a power of attorney may be required for team members who are not owners of the company.

Before visiting the rental company, it is recommended to contact its employees to get a full list of required documents and make sure you meet all rental conditions.

Polish driving license - what if I don't have it?

Renting a car can be problematic if the interested person comes from another country. In Poland, the validity of driving licenses is regulated by the regulations of the European Union for member states and the Vienna Convention for other countries. If the person wishing to rent a car has a driving license other than the documents specified in the above-mentioned directives, they are required to present an international driving license.
