How to drive economically?

Fuel station

Fuel in our country is unfortunately not cheap, and none of us likes to part with a large part of our wealth at the gas pump. So how can we reduce its consumption? Here are a few tips that will definitely help.

Maintain proper RPM

One of the biggest enemies of economical driving is using too high revs. As they increase, fuel consumption increases. That is why in most cars it is best to keep the revs in the range of 2000-3000 rpm.

Quickly switch to two

The old adage among drivers is, “First gear is only for starting.” It’s true. First gear should, in most cases, only be used to get the car moving. Then, second gear takes over.

Turn off the engine when you are stationary

Waiting for someone at the store? Have you stopped your car in front of the gate to open it? Don't leave the engine running. Idling also uses fuel, and restarting it isn't all that fuel-hungry.

Engine brake

When the car is rolling, the roles are reversed and the wheels are largely powering the engine, so fuel consumption is minimal. Therefore, when approaching a junction or a bend, release the gas and do not use the brake until it is necessary. Also, do not put the gear into neutral or press the clutch, because the engine will have to use additional fuel to maintain the revolutions.

Predict

Anticipating what will happen on the road is not only a principle of safer driving, but also of economical driving. If you notice a car braking in the distance, a light changing to red, or a speed limit early enough, you will be able to slow down without using the brakes. And this will save you even more fuel.

Reduce weight

Extra weight in your car is not a good thing. Car manufacturers often fight to reduce it. So don't waste their work and don't carry unnecessary items.

Reduce your speed

Fast and economical driving unfortunately do not go hand in hand. Although cars on the road usually burn less fuel than in the city, constant driving at high speed increases this consumption. Experts say that the optimal speed for most cars is 90 km/h.

Maintain proper tire pressure

Many studies show that proper tire pressure is crucial for fuel consumption. Any drop in pressure increases rolling resistance, and therefore the engine's appetite for fuel. Therefore, the amount of air in the tires should be as recommended by the manufacturer.
